Brendan is a mechanical engineer with over 15 years’ experience working on the mechanical design of components for defence, consumer electronics and medical products.
After moving from South Africa in 2002, he worked as a technician on automated machinery projects while completing a TAFE diploma. This was followed by completing an Engineering Degree (honours) at the University of Southern Queensland. His first engineering design role was at Ellex Medical where he worked on precision opto-mechanical devices and systems. A significant portion of his time at Ellex was spent working on research and design activities for a new retinal rejuvenation laser platform using optical fibre delivery and pulsed laser.
More recently he worked for Codan Pty Ltd working in the Minelab group where he designed and tested electro-mechanical components and housings for consumer and military metal detector products .
Brendan has a passion for learning and problem solving. He is Micro-X’s resident laser welding expert.
