Emily Hawke

Graduate Mechanical Engineer

Emily has joined the Mechanical Engineering team as a graduate since recently completing her degree in Biomedical Engineering with Honours at Flinders University.

Throughout her degree, Emily completed a placement where she assisted in the design and development of orthopaedic implants.  With a strong interest in biomechanics, Emily’s honours project led her onto the mechanical pathway. She designed a device to repeat the function of the sacroiliac joints in the human body, which will help researchers determine the effects of prolonged sitting and standing postures on the Human spine.

In her final year of study, Emily participated in a 3-week summer school internship in France, using sensors in a flight simulator to measure cognitive loading.
