The intervening ‘golden hours’ to diagnosis and treatment significantly affect survival rates and long-term outcomes. Set the challenge of bringing mobile CT stroke imaging to the patient, Micro-X has redesigned CT, combining our Nano Electronic X-ray (NEX) Technology with precise switching and specially developed imaging software.

Micro-X is creating a mobile CT that is small enough to fit in a standard ambulance or retrieval aircraft. By determining the presence and type of stroke before reaching hospital, patients will be able to access treatment sooner, increasing the chances of survival and reducing the likelihood of permanent disability.

Weighing just 154lbs/ 70kg and compact enough to fit into standard ambulances and aircraft, our scanners will bring the power of precise imaging to the patient. Using a series of our mini tubes to form an array, this next generation CT moves away from the large traditional rotating gantry, making it small enough to be taken to the patient.

Advancing toward human clinical trials

Micro-X plans to commence human clinical trials in Australian hospitals this year. The trials will see Micro-X demonstrate diagnostic quality imaging of the five types of hemorrhagic stroke over a range of patient samples. Following these successful trials, the Head CT will be trialled in road and air ambulances in Australia.
