Micro-X is proud to be participating in National Science Week. National Science Week in South Australia officially launches today and runs Australia-wide from 14-22 August 2021. Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology. The week features more than 1000 events delivered by universities, schools, research institutions, museums, and science centres.

Micro-X has received a generous grant from the Federal Government’s National Science Week Fund to put on two events as part of Science Week. Micro-X is holding two events – Friday 20 August for school groups and Saturday 21 August for the general public. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the Micro-X facility at Tonsley, which manufactures next-generation X-ray equipment which incorporates carbon nanotube technology.

Free photography workshops, presented by Digido Studios, and other science-related art and craft activities will be offered alongside guided tours around the Tonsley Innovation District.

Join us for a fun-filled day and learn more about how innovation and ‘Seeing Things Differently’ can lead to technological advancement across various industries. Find out how Palaeontologists at Flinders University use X-ray technology in their research and meet some of Micro-X’s fellow Tonsley Innovation District tenants such as Autism SA and the Australian Industrial Transformation Institute.

The Friday event (for school groups only) will also offer guest talks by award-winning speakers at the Flinders Tonsley building. For more information about Science week and to book tickets, visit the National Science Week Website.
