Micro-X has been named as a finalist in the Excellence in Science and Industry Collaboration category of the 2021 South Australian Science Excellence Awards.

The SA Science Excellence Awards recognise South Australian teams and individuals who have demonstrated leadership in scientific excellence and innovation across the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM) Research and Innovation value chain.

The Excellence in Science and Industry Collaboration finalist announcement recognises the STEM Fast Track program – a collaboration between Micro-X and Flinders University which actively connects secondary and tertiary students with industry. The collaboration acknowledges the importance of showcasing real-world STEMM careers to young people and providing guidance and support, from industry school visits to work-integrated learning and industry placements

The STEM Fast Track program focuses on providing equal opportunities to all and has a track record of outstanding feedback and student outcomes. This contributes to strengthening South Australia’s future and self-sufficiency by encouraging South Australian innovation and STEMM careers.

“We are extremely pleased that our STEM Fast Track program collaboration with Flinders University has been recognised by the judges. For us at Micro-X, it all comes back to education. Learning inside and outside the classroom is one of the most powerful tools we can use to spearhead change and foster a generation of innovative change-makers.” Commented Micro-X Managing Director, Peter Rowland.

The SA Science Excellence and Innovation Awards showcase the critical importance of science, research and innovation to the development of industry and society as a whole. The Award winners will be announced on Friday 3rd December at the SA Science Excellence and Innovation Award Celebration Event.
