In 2018, Gandalf completed a 20-week work integrated learning placement with Micro-X as part of the R&D team developing CNT emitters for use in x-ray tubes. He continued to work part time as he completed his degrees, helping to develop the x-ray tube manufacturing and testing process.
After graduating from Flinders University with Bachelors of Electronics Engineering and Science in 2020, Gandalf transitioned to the electronics team working primarily with high voltage test equipment.
